Where Inclusivity Meets the Beauty of Kashmir

From the exquisitely beautiful valley of Kashmir, I bring you Shamil by Mehak, a clothing brand rooted in inclusivity, elegance, and self-expression.

As a media professional, I have always believed that body size should never be a barrier to looking and feeling beautiful. With Shamil, I wanted to create something that truly celebrates every body and every story.

My inspiration comes from the Kashmir I call home - the expansive meadows of Gulmarg and Dodhpathri, the streams of Lidder gushing through Pahalgam, and the serene calmness of the Verinag or Kokernag springs. Every piece reflects the colors, calmness, and timeless charm of this valley.

 

The embroidery on my garments is inspired by vibrant flowers, the iconic chinar, and the exquisite cherry and almond blossoms that Kashmir is known for - bringing a soft, graceful, and distinctly local touch to every design. Each piece carries a reflection of the valley’s natural beauty and heritage.

I focus on creating clothes that are comfortable, versatile, and elegant; perfect for everyday wear, office looks, or special occasions.

With Shamil, I’m not just designing clothes. I am building a space where everyone feels included.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Mehak Zubair is a celebrated radio presenter, storyteller, and award-winning media professional from Kashmir, who has worked across news, radio, and television, building a dynamic voice across platforms. From reporting on complex civic and political issues to hosting prime-time shows, her work has always been rooted in depth, empathy, and real connection.

Beyond broadcasting, Mehak is a passionate advocate for body positivity and inclusive fashion. She has collaborated with leading global and national brands including PUMA, Columbia Sportswear, and Lakme Salon, while also creating award-winning campaigns on body positivity with collaborators from across the country; giving her a deep, lived understanding of representation and self-expression.

Her work spans impactful public campaigns, podcasts, and on-ground initiatives, earning her multiple industry awards for both creativity and social impact.

Shamil by Mehak is a natural extension of her journey and belief that fashion should be inclusive, empowering, and deeply personal - a space where every body is celebrated, and everyone feels seen.
